Living Paycheck to Paycheck - 4 Ways the 60% Doing that Can Find Financial Security

Increasingly those in America are finding it hard to make ends meet. According to the survey from Lending Tree, 60% are on the edge in doing that. They are living paycheck to paycheck and could fall off the cliff if that paycheck stops. Among that 60% are those earning $100k or more who also are caught up in the same kind of survival mode. They have no savings. 

The good news is that there are solutions. Here are 4 which have proven out. 

The most accessible is the income picked up on the side. According to Side Hustle Nation, 45% already have some form of side hustle. Frequently they can be lucrative. If you are reliable and available for just-in-time work you will probably have lots of assignments. The side gig could also take the form of putting together on your own a dog-walking, errand-runing, or ecommerce enterprise. 

Another way out of being positioned for financial catastrophe is becoming a full-time entrepreneur. More and more of those are possible and low-cost through software tools. Those services can range from marketing/selling used whatever to psychic readings. Growing is the concept of the Creator Economy. Through technology they create content. If it's video and if it develops a following on TikTok they can become millionaires. If it's audio and their podcast catches fire they can also be sitting pretty financially.

A third is shifting to a lifestyle of minimalism. No longer do you chase a middle class or upscale lifestyle. Instead you adopt a counterculture mindset of downsizing spending to what is absolutely needed and then comparison-shop for the best deals, as well as free. Symbols of minimalism are the tiny house and the SmartCar (equvalent to the counterculture VW bug). 

A fourth is relocating beyond the borders of America. Usually you can opt to retain your US citizenship and to be allowed to earn income from employment or operating your own business. Right next to Arizona is Nogales, Mexico. There the cost of living can be less than $400 per month. For instance, a one-bedroom in the center of the city can only set you back $152. Down Memory Lane - There Was Actually a Time in When $70k for New JDs Was Big Money

The year was 1987.  On a Monday in October the stock market crashed.  Corporate downsizing, made an art at GE by Jack Welch, was purging the system of middle-aged middle managers.
