Post-Debate - Progressive Law Firms' Power Inside-the-Beltway in Play

 Open Secrets documents how large progressive firms donate heavily to the Democratic Party. Those contributors range from Kirkland & Ellis and Akin Gump to Paul, Weiss and Sullivan & Cromwell. Obviously that gives them influence in the Party.

How much influence, though, seems questionable post-debate when major decisions have to be made if Joe Biden will continue his campaign. So far, close insiders seem to have hardened into a closed system, stonewalling messaging. In a recent conference call the chat function had been disabled.

That is such discouraging news for progressive law firms. Formally or informally they lobby those inside-the-beltway. After the US Supreme ruling ending Chervon Deference they will have to reach lawmakers with more details about proposed legislation. The extent of that reach could be more limited if not only the White House but also the Congress tips to a conservative majority.

Akin Gump Julia Ghahramani's March 2021 Cocaine+ Death - So?

   It had been way back more than a year ago that first-year associate at law firm Akin Gump Julia Ghahramani died from cocaine laced with fentanyl. Yet that story keeps resurfacing.  This week  RollonFriday  revisits it. Up-or-Out: McKinsey Raises the Pressure, In Contrast Some Law Firms Ease It through Nonequity Partner Tier
