So Sci-Fi: Humans Mutating into Conservatives

It was quick. As in the sci-fi "A Quiet Place," human beings have changed their essence - or will have to. That is to survive the incoming take-over of all branches of government by the ideology of Donald Trump. That could go on for at least 16 years.

One-time creator of the very left Abovethelaw.com David Lat covers on Bloomberg Law the panel of the very right Federalist Society's National Lawyers Convention. The subject, which Lat treats with respect, is how to be a change agent. The advice includes being patient.

Many of us recall how a 2022 "Pivot" podcast saluted progressive chair of law firm Paul Weiss Brad Karp for also being a change agent. That was in social justice. Will that kind of outreach by any law firm be toned down? It could be organizational death to not be aligned with clients' mindsets.

Meanwhile, liberal political/legal analyst Elie Mystal, an Abovethelaw.com alumnus and best-selling author of "Allow Me to Retort," is getting lots less attention on Mediaite as conservative Megyn Kelly gets more and more. However, Mystal still has a following on X.

Liberals at MSNBC, as Comcast spins it off, are in a panic about their very jobs. The New York Post reports:

"The rabid anti-Trump network has averaged roughly 550,000 viewers since Election Day, marking a 39% drop compared with its viewership in October, according to Nielsen data. In primetime, MSNBC’s audience fell 53%, according to Nielsen."

Wall Streeters have veered from embracing ESG rhetoric and investments to being high-profile in support of what is assumed will be Trump polices. Apollo's CEO Marc Rowan, possibly the next Treasury Secretary, said on the record:

"Trump admin. is going to bring needed change"

Here in southeast Arizona, be it in the apartment complex, the supermarket, at the hair stylist and downing down the "poison" of fast food those I know to be progressives tend to shrug and actually say, "We are so powerless. 'They' can do what they want." That is an update of the memes I grew up with during the Frank Hague Machine in Hudson County New Jersy during the 1950s. Back then the rhetorical shrug was: "You can't fight City Hall." If you wanted your relatives from the Old Country to get a job or your street plowed of snow, you didn't.

As an intuitive coach I restrict politics to what dominates individual organizations. All collars - white, blue, pink - have to learn how to navigate those currents, often dangerous. The prerequisite is, before taking the job, to figure out if you can do that. If not, keep looking.
