Dow at 60,000? Hey Boomers, Investment Expert Ed Yardeni Says That Can Happen

"Yardeni Research’s chief investment strategist, Ed Yardeni, told clients in a note that the index DJIA was on track for a 50% rise to 60,000 by 2030, and the S&P 500 SPX could see a rise to 8,000." - Yahoo Finance, May 21, 2024

That's less than six years away. Meanwhile, we boomers could be experiencing the Roaring Second Decade of the 21st Century. A few times the Dow already hit 40,000.

Yes, we could be the Luckiest Generation in America. For us education was cheap. There were so many good jobs. Those of us who wanted to take on the responsibility of owning a house could afford to do so. And Social Security and Medicare are still around for us.

Of course, there were bad times. Memories of the severe recession of the mid-1970s remain vivid. And there was the universal boot we middle aged middle managers in Corporate America got in the late 1980s.

The bad times do continue if, even though we continue to work, we become invisible. It's also a scramble to keep up with generative AI. I heard from an insurance agent that auto premiums tend to go up post-75.

Overall, though, we have been blessed. We might the last generation in America to experience such an upward trajectory.
