Kamala Harris: Maybe She Doesn't Know How to Pick Her Men

During last evening's vice-presidential debate Tim Walz performed badly. His stumbles were too many.

One was that bug-eyed sustained look. Where were the presence, the confidence?

Another was a failure to provide a persuasive cover story for earlier misstatements, attempting to blow it all off by referring to himself as a knucklehead. Do we want this guy in the White House and potentially becoming US President if Kamala Harris cannot conduct her duties or dies? He isn't sophisticated enough for that major role.

Seemingly a player with an enormous capacity for self-growth JD Vance demonstrated during the debate that he could step up to a new situation. In some circles he came across as acceptable to take over as US President if Donald Trump is unable to continue with that role or dies.

It's becoming increasingly puzzling why Harris chose Walz for the ticket. She had the guidance of many, including Eric Holder from law firm Covington. Seasoned in politics dating back to assisting Hillary Clinton, Karen Dunn from law firm Paul Weiss has been part of Harris' network. What had been positioned and packaged a vote-magnet Everyman could be turning out to be a not-put-together in this media era. How can he reassure voters he's the man for even the job of VP?

Also puzzling is why the worldly wise and highly principled Harris opted for Doug Emhoff as her lifelong companion. He already admitted cheating with the nanny during his previous marriage. More on that is rumored. We usually don't trust those such as a Kennedy (new book out is "Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed") who prey on the nanny. Obviously power is so unequal. Ethically that seems so wrong.

Now there is the allegation that Emoff struck in the face a former girlfriend. Will Emhoff be able to clear that up? Until he does, should the concern grow if we want this man in the White House and be part of the public face of America?

These two developments can undermine the Harris campaign during these critical final days. Of course, we wonder about Harris' decision-making, both in professional and personal matters.

Such noise timed so close to election day helped sink Hillary Clinton in 2016.

As political strategist James Carville hammers: This is a tough race. Vance just improved Trump's chance of winning. Those who have been around awhile know that people can grow into the job. Vance can continue to grow. He can overcome his extreme points of view, just as he overcame his difficult childhood.

Walz and Emhoff seem to be tarnishing the Harris branding for becoming US President.

So, who is this Kamala Harris? Is she a media creation engineered by the best in the business of image-making?
