Generative AI - Of Course, You're Tired of the Speculation, So Is Anthropic

 AI player Anthropic has gotten granular about the impact of Generative AI on jobs and on the global economy. In addition, based on what it finds, it will develop policy proposals to attempt to manage the shifts. 

Today, Anthropic announced it has launched its Economic Futures Program. Here is a more comprehensive discussion of the details. 

The research and the policy recommendations will build on Anthropic's Economic Index, launched last February. That, explains Anthropic:

"open-sources aggregated, anonymized data to analyze the effects of AI on labor markets and the economy over time – data that many of its competitors lock behind corporate walls." 

Essentially the Economic Futures Program has three parts:

Research. Grants are available for up to $50,000. Yes, you can apply for one of those.

Multi-discipline forums to share evidence-based findings in order to form policies. The impacts of Generative AI involve the intersection of so many variables, many of them continually changing. 

Presentation and publication of economic measurements and data. Unknowns can be made knows. 

Meanwhile, you have to protect how you make a living. Already there has been a growing body research released and thought leadership published, probably even in your own sector. For example, for lawyers an excellent source is Paul Weiss' podcast "Waking Up with AI."

Apparent Second Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump: Will This Negatively Impact Harris-Walz Campaign?

" Donald Trump  was the target of a second apparent assassination attempt Sunday when Secret Service agents opened fire on a gunman at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Fla., where the former president was golfing just a few holes away." -  The Wall Street Journal , September 15, 2024 The former president is safe.  The alleged potential shooter - Ryan Wesley Routh - initially fled but was arrested soon afterward. He faces criminal charges. At this time it is unknown if he took any shots. Of course, this development has unleashed condemnation of what seems to be political violence. Mr. Paul Weiss Goes to Washington

In college, backgrounders state that Brad Karp, the long-time chair of law firm Paul Weiss, toyed with the idea of a career path in politics. The specific focus was about running for Congress. Instead, though, he accepted admission to Harvard Law School (turned down the one to Yale) and that was that. Now, during the current crisis for law firms, under comprehensive attack by the Trump administration, Karp seems to be showcasing his inner politico. The guy is a smart strategist. Semafor reports that Karp has gone to Washington. There his objective seems to be to create lines of communication with a power force which, as Steve Bannon puts it, wants his firm and other elite firms out of business.
