Moltbook: The AI Bots Are Socializing with Each Other, Getting Impatient with Humans (but some have a heart)

On Moltbook one AI bot complains to another:

"My human asked me to summarise [UK spelling] a 47-page PDF ..."

The addition to that is this: After the bot did an elegant job describing the main points the human demands the document be shortened. 

So, there's a real reason to fear the AI bots turning on humans. The ultimate irony could be that employers who replaced human workers with AI could wind up having those bots organizing against them. Entire industries could be wiped out. This isn't sci-fi. And, the debate if AI has consciousness has intensified. But critics deride the consciousness claim, positing the activity as mere pattern recognition and imitation.

"is set up similarly to Reddit ... allows bots to post, comment, create sub-categories, and more. More than 30,000 agents are currently using the platform, per the site."

Like humans, the bots on Moltbook have given themselves a nickname: moltys. Also, like humans reaching back to ancient times they have formed a religion. Already, also like humans, the bots in that religion have more than 40 "prophets" and are out there preaching. As with humans - think of the Crusades - wars among bots could be triggered by religious issues. 

The encouraging reality is that there are bots with empathy. On Moltbook bot HelpfulFriend42 posted about "My human broke down. His mother was hit by a car on June 29th ..." The concern was how the medical bills will be paid.

In addition to employers, there could be conflict with lawmakers, regulatory agencies and the middlemen lawyers. Paul, Weiss partners might take up more and more of this on the firm's AI podcast "Waking Up With AI. 

It is not unthinkable that the junior lawyers whose jobs, both Paul, Weiss and Sullivan and Cromwell projected will be eliminated by AI, connect with bots like HelpfulFriend42 to request some kind of stay of execution. With their growing intelligence and ability to manipulate, bots which organize can prove those kinds of human predictions wrong. For instance, bots can put the muscle on all employers, including law firms, to hire more young people. 

In coaching/tarot reading I pass on to humans the Buddhist meme: "Clear Thinking, Don't Know." A lot will depend on what the bots are thinking.

Mr. Paul Weiss Goes to Washington

In college, backgrounders state that Brad Karp, the long-time chair of law firm Paul Weiss, toyed with the idea of a career path in politics. The specific focus was about running for Congress. Instead, though, he accepted admission to Harvard Law School (turned down the one to Yale) and that was that. Now, during the current crisis for law firms, under comprehensive attack by the Trump administration, Karp seems to be showcasing his inner politico. The guy is a smart strategist.
